Spain - Seaweeds
Seaweeds (Protoctista) are divided in three subclasses. These classes are the green weeds the red weeds and the brown weeds. The classification is based on the appearance of specific pigments and chlorophyll. This classification does not mean that red weeds are always red and green weeds always green. All Seaweeds belong to the group of the primitive plants because they do not possess a root system and flowers. The only representatives of higher plants are sea-grasses. However, these became very rare in The Netherlands.
